my favourite youtubers
27/04/2025craig benzine
youtube.com/@wheezywaiter
craig's videos are so genuine and pure and sweet and he seems like such a nice guy! he seems to be a person who loves asking why, being curious and trying new stuff and i think the world could always have more of that
benn jordan
youtube.com/@BennJordan
benn jordan is The Flashbulb, a musical artist i enjoy immensely, but his youtube channel is also a goldmine of super interesting music tidbits, as well as (unexpectedly) a really cool citizen scientist? the stuff he makes is super varied and always extremely well thought out and presented and i always watch his new videos the second they come out
anti-chef
youtube.com/@antichef
i don't want to diminish josh's skill in any amount by calling his youtube series an entertainment-first cooking show, but the fact of the matter is that it is extremely entertaining. his cute callback bits are somehow always funny, his positive outlook is infectious, and you feel it when he messes us just as bad as he does. i could (and do) accidentally watch fifteen episodes in a row while doing my own cooking
masaru
youtube.com/@masaru.9268
masaru probably isn't for everyone because his whole deal is that he catches and fillets fish, but if you don't have an issue with seeing that kind of thing i think he's an extremely interesting person. masaru has an incredible devil-may-care personality which is hyperfocused into trying to catch and eat every aquatic animal under the sun. he's quite knowledgeable about fish and filleting them, but he also has a genuine explorative innocence that makes him a joy to watch
elliot is a cool guy
youtube.com/@welliot
elliot is a graphic designer with a penchant for bright colours, cool post processing and doing things his own particular way. i see him as a bit style touchstone, and he's australian so i'm contractually obligated to share him
angela collier
youtube.com/@acollierastro
this is probably a little reductive, but i feel like angela is sort of the astrophysics communicator equivalent of jenny nicholson (or her youtube videos are anyway). she was the first person to that allowed me to actually understand dark matter, antimatter and string theory, and her videos on each are absolutely excellent
rp archive
youtube.com/@RPArchiveOfficial
matt from rp archive has created this whole interlocking magnetic battle map system for table top roleplaying games and they itch the part of my brain that loves dioramas and worldbuilding. i'm yeeeet to actually make anything that he's talked about, but i do have a tiny apartment and i have no idea where i'd put it in the first place
acerola
youtube.com/@Acerola_t
acerola is a graphics programmer who works in the area profesisonally, but also makes some lovely (and just generally entertaining) videos on different graphics programming concepts from the perspective of someone who actually knows what theyre talking about
dalub
youtube.com/@StellariteDalub
this is an extremely indulgent move but dalub provides the most wonderfully genuine splatoon montages with just a bunch of people messing about; everything else on youtube is trying to put out regular weekly content instead of just having fun
hhhazel
youtube.com/@hhhazel
hhhazel is an anime video creator who goes to stupid lengths to communicate her feelings in a way that allows you to really empathise with her, as well as understand some of the (more) objective qualities about a show or series that set it apart from the rest. i always feel like i'm getting better at art criticism and analysis whenever i listen to her
whitestone jazz
youtube.com/@whitestonejazz
whitestone jazz is a mathematician who splits time between describing mathematical concepts in minecraft and breaking down the maths / logic of cool minecraft systems for the layperson. it's still pretty in-depth stuff, but i think he does a good job of simplifying it
jenny nicholson
youtube.com/@JennyNicholson
jenny nicholson fits squarely in the camp of people who are delightful to listen to because they're simply extremely passionate. her videos span a bunch of different topics but there is a lot of movie and tv stuff, with some absolute out-there left-field type topics in between
